On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the role of innovation, integrity, and inclusion in the management field, describing them as key mantras as he laid the foundation stone of the new Indian Institute of Management (IIM) campus in Sambalpur, Odisha.

In his virtual address, in addition to ensuring that their vision includes the less privileged sections of society, PM Modi also asked students to concentrate on ‘Brand India’.

Here are the key highlights from the address of PM Modi:

– Today, a new stone has been laid along with the foundation stone of the IIM campus to strengthen the youth capacity of Odisha. With recognition of Odisha’s great culture and resources, this permanent campus of IIM will give Odisha a new identity in the management world.

-Startups of today can become multi-nationals of tomorrow. These start-ups will mostly start in the country’s Tier-II and Tier-III cities.

– India’s youth need to be prepared for the massive opportunities in India that lie ahead. We are responsible for providing a new image to brand India globally in this new decade.

– Management experts emerging from new experiences in new areas of the country will play a major role in bringing India to new heights. Despite the Covid-19 crisis, India has offered more unicorns this year than in previous years.

– IIM students need to find fresh and innovative solutions in order to turn local into global. I’m sure our IIMs can act as a bridge between local products and collaborations around the world.

– The pattern of work and the demand for management skills are rapidly changing. Top-down and top-heavy leadership is not a necessity today. To collaborative, innovative, and transformative management, it has changed.

– Permanent solutions for PPE kits, masks, and ventilators have been identified in Covid, India. India has perpetually adopted short-term problem-solving measures. Today, India’s approach to long-term solutions has changed.

– Today, with our long-term solution approach, India’s gas coverage stands at over 98 percent. You know it’s the real challenge to turn coverage into 100 percent and we’re striving hard for it.

-We are trying to remove silos from the professional education system. For better development, we want to include everybody in the mainstream, a clear example of an inclusive nature.

– The whole world has changed from a global village to a global workplace with the conception of work from anywhere. In recent months, India, too, has quickly implemented all the necessary reforms.
