In a defamation case filed by veteran poet, lyricist, political activist, and screenwriter Javed Akhtar at Andheri Court, the Mumbai Police have summoned actress Kangana Ranaut.

On Friday (January 22), Ranaut was asked to be present before the Juhu Police officers, who are investigating the case. The court had requested that the police of Juhu investigate the defamation case brought against Ranaut by Akhtar and submit the report to the court.

The court ordered Juhu Police to investigate the defamation case filed by Akhtar on 19 December and submit the report on 16 January, but the cops sought more time from the court at the most recent hearing. The Juhu police have now launched investigations into the matter and have, therefore, called Ranaut for questioning.

On February 1, the next hearing is at Andheri Court, and the cops will file a report by then, the sources said.

Akhtar alleges that Ranaut’s interview with the media “tarnished his image publicly”
In the interview, Ranaut spoke at his house about her conversation with Akhtar, where a doctor was present as well. Akhtar and Kangana have different things to say about the case, but the doctor, a witness in the case, can tell you exactly what happened. Both Akhtar and Ranaut are familiar with the doctor. Police must question the doctor and attach his comments to the report, according to the court.
