In the last 24 hours, India has seen 39,796 new instances of the novel coronavirus, with 723 deaths. The Union Health Ministry reported on Monday that the country had 42,352 discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovery to 2,97,00,430. According to the data, the overall number of COVID-19 cases in India has reached 3,05,02,362, with 4,82,071 active cases. The country’s death toll has now reached 4,02,728 people.

So far, 35,28,92,046 vaccination doses have been given out across the country.

A total of 34,46,11,291 people have received vaccinations across the country.

India’s COVID-19 total surpassed 20 lakh on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16 last year.

On September 28, it surpassed the 60 lakh milestone, followed by the 70 lakh mark on October 11, the 80 lakh mark on October 29, the 90 lakh mark on November 20, and finally the one-crore mark on December 19.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, requesting that the country’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, be presented to all doctors, nurses, and paramedics who assisted the public during the COVID-19 pandemic this year.

It will be a fitting tribute to doctors who have passed away, he said.

Doctors, nurses, and paramedical professionals should receive the Bharat Ratna this year, according to Kejriwal’s letter to the Prime Minister.
