Mithun Chakraborty will attend PM Modi’s mega rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak at a public rally in Kolkata on Sunday, ahead of the West Bengal elections. After the announcement of the dates for the eight-phased Assembly elections in West Bengal, this will be PM Modi’s first public rally in the state. Many folk musicians have been invited to perform at the event, according to party sources. The rally will be held in central Kolkata, and Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborty is expected to attend.

Kailash Vijayvargiya, the national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), met Chakraborty in Kolkata on Saturday amid speculation that he would attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Brigade rally.

Vijayvargiya had previously stated in response to rumors that the actor would join the BJP, ” “I spoke with Mithun Chakraborty on the phone, and he’ll be here today. Only after we’ve had a thorough discussion will I be able to make a comment.”

The public rally will take place one day after the BJP released its first list of 57 candidates for the elections, and two days after the incumbent Trinamool Congress (TMC) released its list of 291 candidates, leaving three seats open for its ally Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM).

BJP officials, including Kailash Vijayvargiya, national General Secretary, Mukul Roy, national Vice-President, Sanjay Singh, General Secretary, and Swapan Dasgupta, Rajya Sabha MP, are inspecting the preparations at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public meeting today.

The BJP made significant gains in West Bengal in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, winning 18 seats and reducing the TMC’s tally to 22 after winning three seats in the 2016 Assembly election. In West Bengal, the Congress won two Lok Sabha seats out of a total of 42, while the Left was shut out.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address 20 rallies in poll-bound West Bengal, according to sources, in response to a large demand from local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.

All 23 districts of West Bengal will be covered by the rallies.

West Bengal Assembly elections will take place in eight phases, beginning March 27 and ending April 29. On May 2nd, the state’s votes will be counted.
