The Delhi Police have filed a total of 15 FIRs related to Tuesday’s violence in the national capital during the farmers’ tractor parade. While five FIRs were registered in the eastern range, Najafgarh, Haridas Nagar, and Uttar Nagar each registered one.

On Tuesday afternoon, thousands of protesting farmers riding on tractors, motorcycles, and cars entered the Red Fort premises with the Tricolour and the flags of the farmers’ unions in their hands. In several regions, they also clashed with police after breaking through barricades.

Farmers deviated from pre-decided routes, prompting security personnel to use tear gas to disperse them and resort to baton charges. Protesters were seen chasing security personnel with sticks into the buses parked by police in the ITO area and ramming their tractors.

As a precautionary measure, after the violence erupted, the authorities suspended internet services in a number of parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) and closed metro stations.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday night, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held an emergency meeting at his residence. The meeting was attended by the Home Secretary, the Director of Intelligence, and senior Delhi police officers.

In Delhi, more central troopers have been deployed to satisfy any requirements. Stand by security personnel have been arranged to control any untoward incident, aside from additional forces.
