Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Wednesday. To announce his retirement, he went to his official Twitter profile.
In 25 Tests, 38 ODIs, and 2 T20Is, the player appeared for India and was one of the main pillars in the senior team before Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s arrival.
Patel thanked the BCCI in his retirement announcement and wrote that he is “especially indebted to Dada” (Sourav Ganguly) for showing “immense faith” in him. His first international captain was Ganguly.

Parthiv Patel made his international cricket debut at Trent Bridge in 2002 against England and became the youngest wicketkeeper in Test cricket. Patel made a brief comeback to the game’s longest format in 2016, after losing his place in the Indian team to MS Dhoni, when he was called in as a replacement for Wriddhiman Saha.
In 2018, during a Test against South Africa in Johannesburg, he last appeared for India.
In ODIs, which involved four half-centuries, the 35-year-old former cricketer scored 736 runs. He scored 934 runs with six half-centuries in testing.
In domestic cricket, the wicketkeeper-batsman remains a stalwart and famously led the Gujarat side to win the Ranji Trophy in the 2016-17 season.
Parthiv Patel has appeared for six franchises in the Indian Premier League, most recently appearing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He didn’t play a single match throughout the tournament in the 2020 edition, however.
In 139 matches, Patel has scored 2,848 runs in his IPL career.
