India’s 100th match against Australia in the traditional format will be the iconic Boxing Day test, starting here on Saturday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the BCCI said on Friday. In 1947-48, the two countries first played a Test series.

The BCCI tweeted, “When the teams square off in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at the MCG, starting tomorrow, #TeamIndia will play its 100th test against Australia,”

In the 99 Tests, Australia has won 43 times, while India has won 28 times. Twenty-seven fixtures were drawn, and one match was tied.

India won three of the Boxing Day Tests in 13 matches. Australia won 8 matches, while two matches were drawn. In 2018, India registered a 137-run win over Australia the last time around.

After losing the first day/night match by eight wickets, India are trailing 0-1 in the current four-match test series. Visitors in their second essay suffered the embarrassment of scoring their lowest test innings score of 36.
