Gujarat, UP By-Election 2020 Results Live Updates: The BJP is expected to win five to six seats in UP while the party is expected to win six to seven out of eight seats in Gujarat by exit polls.

UP, Gujarat By-Election Results 2020 At 8 am, the counting of votes began. The BJP leads, according to the latest count, with five seats in UP and seven seats in Gujarat.

The BJP is predicted to perform well in both states, following the exit polls. The exit polls estimate that the BJP is expected to gain five to six UP seats, while the party is expected to win six to seven out of eight seats in Gujarat.

After the deaths of sitting MLAs in Bulandshahr, Deoria, Malhani, Naugaon Sadat, and Ghatampur, by-polls were required for seven seats in Uttar Pradesh. After its MLA, S P Singh Baghel was elected to the Lok Sabha, the Tundla seat fell vacant, while the Bangarmau seat in Unnao fell vacant following the conviction of BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in a rape case. Barring Malhani, BJP MLAs have ruled over the other six seats.

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of rigging the elections the day before the announcement of the results. He, however, did not expand on the accusation and said after the results are out, he will provide detailed details.

In Gujarat, after the sitting Congress MLAs resigned ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls held in June this year, bye-elections were required for eight seats. Five of them joined the BJP later and are contesting the bypolls on the ticket for the saffron party.
