At the National Metrology Conclave on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered his inaugural address through video conferencing. The conclave’s theme was ‘Metrology for the inclusive growth of the nation.’ The Minister of Science and Technology of the Union, Earth Sciences, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, also attended the event.

PM Modi also dedicated the ‘National Atomic Timescale’ and the ‘Bhartiya Nirdeshak Dravya’ to the nation, and the ‘National Environmental Standards Laboratory’ laid the foundation stone.

Indian Standard Time is produced by the National Atomic Timescale with an accuracy of 2.8 nanoseconds. Bhartiya Nirdeshak Dravya supports, at the same level as international standards, the testing and calibration of quality assurance laboratories.

The National Laboratory for Environmental Standards will support self-reliance in environmental air and industrial emission monitoring equipment certification.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), New Delhi, is organising the National Metrology Conclave 2021, which is entering its 75th year of establishment.
