Shri Rama’s birth anniversary falls on the Navami Tithi (ninth day), Chaitra, Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the Moon). He was born into the Suryavanshi Ikshavaku Dynasty and was known as Raja Ram by the people of Ayodhya. He was also Lord Vishu’s seventh incarnation. Interestingly, Chaitra Navratri, which is dedicated to Mother Goddess Durga and begins on the first day (Pratipada Tithi) of the Hindu New Year according to the Lunar calendar, concludes with Rama Navami. Significance of Rama Navami
The Hindu calendar’s Rama Navami is a significant date. As previously stated, the day honours Shri Rama, who was born in the Treta Yuga to King Dasharatha and his first queen Kaushalya.
Rama was the eldest of four siblings, and his younger brothers Bharata, Lakshmana, and Shatrughan, as well as the people of Ayodhya, loved and respected him. He built a kingdom in which everyone was content and happy. As a result, the term Ram Rajya (or Shri Rama’s governance style) is frequently used to describe an ideal state.
As a result, on Rama Navami, Shri Rama’s devotees observe a fast from sunrise to sunrise. Those who live in Ayodhya take a bath in the Sarayu River’s holy waters before paying their Raja Ram.
