The makers of Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Thalaivi,’ a Bollywood film, have a surprise for moviegoers. Although the film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 23, the trailer will be released on Kangana’s birthday, March 23, in a major event as a gift to her fans. The biopic is based on the life of legendary actor-turned-politician Jayalalithaa. The film, which follows the life of one of India’s most powerful women politicians, has captivated audiences since its release.

Kangana Ranaut has put everything into the film, from learning Bharatnatyam and Tamil to spending hours perfecting Jayalalithaa’s mannerisms, and viewers are excited to see the story unfold in theaters. The uncanny similarity of Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami’s characters to Jayalalithaa and M G Ramachandran has been a big talking point so far, and there is a lot of anticipation for the biopic’s look and feel, as well as how iconic events from the beloved actor-turned-life politician’s have been depicted.

The film is a multilingual biopic aimed at a pan-India release, directed by A. L. Vijay and written by Vijayendra Prasad. Kangana had posted the film’s teaser on her social media on Jayalalithaa’s birthday, February 24th, with the caption, “To Jaya Amma, on her birthday, Witness the tale of the legend, #Thalaivi, in cinemas on April 23rd, 2021.”

The film will follow Jayalalithaa’s illustrious film career, as well as her transition into politics, as the teaser suggests. On the occasion of Jayalalithaa’s birth anniversary, the film’s producers had also announced the release date.

Kangana Ranaut plays Jayalalithaa, Arvind Swami plays politician M. G. Ramachandran, and Prakash Raj plays Karunanidhi in the film. Jisshu Sengupta and Bhagyashree will play crucial roles as well. The biopic will be released in three languages: Hindi, Tamil, and Telegu.
