Shravan Rathod, of Nadeem-Shravan fame, has passed away. After testing positive for COVID-19, he was admitted to the hospital. Shravan (66) died on Thursday. After testing positive for the deadly virus, he became critically ill. He was recently admitted to Raheja Hospital in Mahim, Mumbai. As his condition deteriorated, the composer’s co-morbidities forced him to rely on ventilator support. For a few days, the musician had been under observation at the hospital.

The music industry was stunned by Shravan’s tragic death. Shravan and his partner Nadeem are widely regarded as the musicians who brought back melody in the early 1990s with Aashiqui, their superhit soundtrack from 1990. The following year, the two composed music for films such as Saajan, Sadak, and Phool Aur Kaante. Following their split in the mid-2000s, the duo reunited in 2009 to compose for David Dhawan’s “Do Knot Disturb.”

Soon after his death, condolence messages from celebrities in the music industry remembered Shravan Rathod flooded Twitter.

In memory of Shravan Rathod, actor Akshay Kumar tweeted, “It’s heartbreaking to learn of the death of music composer Shravan. Nadeem-Shravan created magic for many films in the 1990s and later, including Dhadkan, which has remained legendary in my career. Sincere condolences to his family.”

Salim Merchant posted an emotional message: “Shravan bhai is no longer with us. My condolences and respects to his family. Nadeem-Shravan gave us some of the biggest hits of the 1990s. COVID-19 has claimed a large number of lives. I’m not sure when this will be over… This news has really saddened me “Salim posted on Twitter.

Pritam, a singer-songwriter, stated: “I was saddened to learn of the death of Shravan ji of Nadeem Shravan. I’m numb. When will this nightmare end? My heartfelt condolences to his family.”

Shreya Ghoshal, a singer, wrote: “I was astounded to learn of the death of Shravan ji (of Nadeem Shravan). A genuine humble human being and one of our music industry’s most influential composers. Another tragic loss in this pandemic. God give strength to the bereaved family. Rest in peace.”

“Extremely saddened by the tragic news of legendary music composer Shravan ji’s (of Nadeem/Shravan fame) demise,” Adnan Sami tweeted.

Kunal Kohli, a filmmaker, tweeted: “I was saddened to learn of the death of #Shravan ji of #NadeemShravan due to #covid. A glorious era of Hindi film music has come to an end. They defined 90’s music. Prayers for the family.”

Kailash Kher, a Bollywood singer, tweeted in Hindi: “Shri Shravan Rathod, who captivated audiences in the 1990s with his music, has passed away. May God grant his soul peace and his family strength to bear the pain. My condolences for his soul. In the beginning of my career, I was fortunate enough to sing under his direction in the film ‘Dosti.'”

Anil Sharma, a film director, tweeted: “V v sad.. just found out about the great music director #shravan who left all of us..due to COVID.. very dear friend n colleague of mine. worked with him in #maharaja My heartfelt condolences to his family. He will always have a place in our hearts. RIP.”
