Lilly Singh, an Indian-Canadian comedian, has spoken out about her artistic ingenuity and dealing with criticism. She admits that she is a minority on television, but she also understands that she has a distinct point of view and voice that she wants to express.

On “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Singh shared her thoughts. During the talk show, host Drew Barrymore said that the comedian sets the mood, writes, produces, and directs.

“You take on the roles of a variety of people. You are in complete control of your own fate. When you’re getting notes and critiques and trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t, how do you share with others? I’m in the same boat as you, so what’s your process?” The question came from Barrymore.

“It’s crucial for me to take the reins of my creative because I know I’m a minority on screen, and I know I have a very specific point of view and a very specific voice, and I want to make sure that it comes through,” the comedian responded.

Singh, who also hosts a late-night talk show, said she has to strike a balance between her work and being exposed to criticism and suggestions.

“I speak too quickly, so if NBC approaches me and asks me to slow down a little, I shouldn’t refuse because I’m a sensitive artist. It’s all about striking a balance between having a powerful voice and being able to collaborate with others “On his show, which airs on Zee Cafe in India, the comedian said.
