On Monday, Deepika Padukone will start shooting for Pathaan, a new production by Yash Raj Films that also stars Shah Rukh Khan. The actor is also shooting with Sidhanth Chaturvedi and Ananya Pandey for Shakun Batra’s next.
As she joins the Pathaan shoot on Monday, the hit pair of Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan is all set to reunite. After a sabbatical of almost two years, it marks Shah Rukh’s return to films.
Deepika, who filmed the domestic noir of Shakun Batra in Goa and Mumbai, will start shooting today for the next Yash Raj Films. The script, directed by Siddharth Anand, is shrouded in mystery and remains to be officially announced. A source said, “Deepika is all set to start shooting alongside Shah Rukh Khan for her next film, Pathaan.” Today, the shoot starts at YRF Studios itself. Nothing about the film is publicly announced by the producers, but the work is in full swing.
While Deepika and Shah Rukh have worked with Siddharth in Om Shanti Om, Happy New Year, and Chennai Express, this is the first time they have collaborating. The director’s last movie, War, starring Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan, was a blockbuster. Also, the movie is said to star John Abraham.
Deepika has been busy with a still-to-be-titled film by Shakun Batra. As they filmed in an apartment, she has been spotted with the cast of the film.
Chhapaak, which also starred Vikrant Massey, was Deepika’s last film to be released. In the movie, the actor played an acid attack victim who fights for justice. After the critical and commercial flop, Zero, Pathaan will mark Shah Rukh’s return to acting. Previously, Shah Rukh had said he was taking some time off to recalibrate. “Talking about taking time off, he said I just don’t feel like this time… My heart doesn’t allow me to… I just felt like I could take time off, watch movies, listen to stories, and read more books instead. My daughter is going to college and my son is about to finish his studies. Even my kids are in college. So I just want to spend more time together with my family.
