Owing to his unique style of composing music, renowned music maverick RD Burman, who was popularly known as Pancham Da, won millions of hearts. It would not be wrong to call him one of Bollywood’s most talented and influential music composers. Born on June 27, 1939, RD Burman composed music for as many as 331 movies, and even now the evergreen songs of the same continue to be the all-time favourites of music lovers across the nation.
Pancham Da gave some of the best music scores in Hindi cinema in his career spanning around 33 years and we get proof of the same in films such as Aaradhna, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, and many others. Unfortunately, the musical genius left for his celestial abode on January 4, 1994. We pay our heartfelt tribute to him today on his 27th anniversary of death and look back at the ten most evergreen songs he composed back in the day.

For the film Kudrat (1981), which featured Hema Malini and Rajesh Khanna in the lead roles, Pancham Da composed this evergreen number. The song that continues to mesmerise music lovers even today has been crowned by Kishore Kumar.

Again, this RD Burman song was sung by Kishore Da for the film Golmaal, which was released in 1979.

For this fantastic number he composed for 1942, Pancham Da won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director: A Love Story. Even now, it continues to be a hit among music lovers and a reboot version was created for a film named after the song itself in 2019.

It is regarded to be one of RD Burman’s best compositions. The song was sung in the 1973 film Yaadon Ki Baaraat by Asha Bhosle and Mohammad Rafi.

Once again, this ballad was filmed by Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore in the 1972 film Amar Prem.
