At least 10 children died in the Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of a hospital in the Bhandara district of Maharashtra after a massive fire broke out. According to reports, the fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday at around 2 am (January 9). Seven of the total of 17 children present in the ward were rescued at the time of the incident.

In the room, a nurse on duty spotted smoke, after which she alerted management officials immediately. Upon receiving the data, the fire brigade department reached the spot immediately and began the rescue operation.
