Google dedicated a doodle video to all the firsts of women in various fields to commemorate International Women’s Day 2021. It shared a doodle video of women’s hands opening doors for themselves and ‘choosing to challenge’ society to achieve their goals. It’s a tribute to all the women who have pushed themselves out of their comfort zones to lead by example. Google India said in a statement after sharing the video, “Today’s #GoogleDoodle honors those who have paved the way for generations of women in fields such as music, education, and science. Happy #InternationalWomensDay to all the trailblazers of the past, present, and future.”

The doodle goes along with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, which is about choosing the path you want to take. International Women’s Day 2021 falls during Women’s History Month in many countries. Google has been sharing a lot of motivational doodles to celebrate their accomplishments and hard work.

The Google doodle for International Women’s Day 2021 honors female pioneers who have defied the odds and excelled in fields such as education, civil rights, science, and art, among others.

The video Doodle honors and pays homage to these (s)heroes by depicting the hands of many trailblazers opening doors and paving the way for generations of women all over the world, as illustrated by Helene Leroux. In a number of countries around the world, International Women’s Day 2021 coincides with Women’s History Month.

While some firsts accomplish something truly groundbreaking, others receive long-overdue recognition or justice.

Suffragists, academics, gold medalists, entrepreneurs, and others are among the women honored in today’s Doodle. These firsts also include the contributions of countless other women who paved the way for today’s doors to open and glass ceilings to be shattered in the past. The video doodle “raises a hand” to all women, past, present, and future.
